Research makes a difference to our lives, to our economy, to our society and to our environment. As a source of scientific and technological innovation, our Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization at SMI University seeks to develop institutionwide strategies to foster cutting-edge research, administering and monitoring internal and external research grants, contributing to the development of regional economy and society, satisfying national strategic needs, providing knowledge for the improvement of life for all, promoting interdisciplinary and collaborative research and ensuring ethical and responsible research practice. To achieve these objectives, SMI University aims to initiate number of research support programs through its dedicated research teams in different Departments.

The vision/mission of research support programs is to encourage and maximize support for research activities, which includes funding for publishing books and journals and travel grants for faculty, which would be helpful for academics who wish to attend conferences or need to reach other institutions for research purposes sharing their ideas, promoting dissemination of research at both national and international level and serving the scientific world.

The funding policy ensures that leading researchers get the recognition and rewards that they deserve and the opportunity to play a significant role in the global scientific community, encourages crossinstitutional collaborations and help them lay the foundations of ingenious, innovative, collaborative, and creative initiative that demonstrates significant potential to enhance the research and creative activity portfolio of SMI University.

POLICY OF INCENTIVE FOR PUBLICATION IN HEC RECOGNIZED JOURNAL OR IN ISI/SCOPUS INDEXED JOURNAL

Introduction

For most researchers, publishing an article in a prestigious journal is likely to be recognized and rewarded with attention from one's peers. However, to encourage and promote the outstanding scientific publication the university has decided to offer incentives to researchers who have publications affiliated with SMI University in HEC recognized journals and indexed by the ISI-Web of Science or Scopus.

Objective:

To give a special thrust to research culture and to improve the profile of the university, a policy is developed to promote research related activities like publication in HEC recognized or ISI indexed journals or Scopus Journals.

Policy and Guideline

Incentive for publishing Technical Paper in National/International journals:

(a) The incentives will be paid only for the following categories of full length publications:
  • Research Articles
  • Short communication
  • Review Articles
  • Proceeding papers
  • (Full articles published in a HEC recognized journal, Scopus Indexed or indexed by ISI-Web of Science (ISI-WoS) or Scopus.
(b) The ISI Web-of-Science Databases refer to the following only:
  • Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIExpanded)
  • Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI)
  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI)

Award for Publications of text books in relevant discipline:
