Riaz Ahmed Mangrio

Dr. Riaz Ahmed Mangrio earned his PhD in Linguistics from Newcastle University in 2012. Initially, he worked as Subject Specialist in Sindh Government, then as an Assistant Professor in the University of Gujrat for over seven years and joined SMIU as Associate Professor in February 2020. Dr. Mangrio has got 22 research papers published in national and international journals besides a book published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. He has also launched two research journals Pakistan Journal of Languages and Translation Studies (2013) and Hayatian Journal of Linguistics and Literature (2017) and has been their Editor. He has also supervised Eighteen MPhil and two PhD theses and participated in various national and international conferences and presented research papers.


Abdul Malik Abbasi, PhD

Abdul Malik Abbasi

Dr. Abbasi earned his Ph.D. (Linguistics, 2016) from the University of Management & Technology (UMT), Lahore and Split Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA (2013-2014). Dr. Malik received MS (Applied Linguistics, 2009) from UMT. Higher Education Commission awarded him MS leading to Ph.D. & Split Ph.D. fellowships for Pakistan and the States. Dr. Abbasi presented his research in America and Pakistan. He has 15 years of teaching and research experience. He is a well-published author with three research books and contributed 30 research papers (13 ISI indexed) in national and international journals. Dr. Malik is an HEC Approved Ph.D. Supervisor. His interest lies in Pakistani English, Experimental Phonetics & Phonology, Teaching of English Language, General Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, and Computational Linguistics.


Wafa Mansoor Buriro, MS

Wafa Mansoor Buriro

Mr. Wafa Mansoor has done his MS in Applied Linguistics from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi in 2019 with the highest score among his batch. Earlier, he had completed his BS in Applied Linguistics from University of Sindh, Jamshoro in 2013 with the distinction of first position along with silver medal. With one-year experience of teaching O/A levels and having served as a lecturer for around five years at university level, he has a consolidated teaching experience of six years so far. Mr. Buriro has authored and/or co-authored seven research papers which are published in various research journals of national and international level. He has translated two books one in Sindhi and other in Urdu. His research interest lies in sociolinguistics, language ecology and language endangerment.


Hatesh Kumar, MS

Hatesh Kumar

Mr. Hatesh has done MS in Applied Linguistics from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi in 2015 and BS English (Linguistics) from University of Karachi in 2010. He has also attended The Research Fellowship Program at University of North Texas, USA. He has more than 5 years experience of teaching. He has served National University of Modern Languages (NUML) as Lecturer in English for more than 4 years. He has also worked as a visiting faculty in Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) and NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. He has attended many National/ International Conferences, Seminars and conducted workshops. His interest lies in Applied Linguistics.


Syeda Kiran Shirazi, MS

Syeda Kiran Shirazi

Ms. Shirazi earned her M.A in English Literature in 2008 from University of Sindh Jamshoro and MS. English Linguistics from Mehran Univeristy of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro in 2017. She has got three research paper published in international research journals and presented her papers in three international conferences. Ms. Shirazi has over seven years of teaching experience in different institutions including MUET, Jamshoro and Government Degree Girls Kotri, Jamshoro. She has participated and facilitated as a resource person in Computer Assisted Language Learning Workshops in collaboration with English Language Teaching Reforms Project under the Higher Education Commission Pakistan. Her field of interest is Teaching and Researching L2 Motivation and English Language Teaching, Mother Tongue Based Multi-Lingual Education.
