STUDENTS’ COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2025-26

Eligibility Criteria for contesting for the Students’ Council Elections 2025-26 for the various Office Bearer positions is mentioned as under:

  • President

    • Candidates for this post must have at least one year's good standing at the SMIU, whether from undergraduate and graduate classes, and must have secured at least CGPA of 3.0, without incurring any deficiency.

  • Vice-President

    • Candidates for this post must have at least one year's good standing at the SMIU, whether from undergraduate and graduate classes, and must have secured at least CGPA of 2.5, without incurring any deficiency.

  • Treasurer

    • Candidates for this post must have at least one year's good standing at the SMIU, whether from the Undergraduate and Graduate classes, and must have at least 2.5 CGPA, without incurring any deficiency.

  • Secretary (Male)

    • Candidates for this post must have at least one year's good standing at the SMIU, whether from the Undergraduate and Graduate classes, and must have at least 2.5 CGPA, without incurring any deficiency.

  • Secretary (Female)

    • Candidates for this post must have at least one year's good standing at the SMIU, whether from the Undergraduate and Graduate classes, and must have at least 2.5 CGPA, without incurring any deficiency.

    Definition of deficiency:

    It is important to understand the term deficiency before submitting nomination form for any of the positions:

  • The candidate will be considered a regular student in case of minimum enrollment of 5 courses if studying in the undergraduate program, and 3-4 courses in case of the graduate programs.

  • The candidate should not have any dropped/failed/withdrawal course pending.

    • IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • Commitment, dedication, flexibility, hard work, honesty and resilience are the key elements to perform at any of the Office Bearer position.

  • Student can only submit nomination form for a society for which he/she has registered.

  • Students who shall be graduating in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 are not eligible to apply for any office bearer position.

  • All the candidates submitting their nomination forms for the above mentioned positions will be required to get clearance from their respective HoDs/Deans for further processing of their documents.

  • The candidate will be required to provide proofs of his/her previous work within SMIU premises. These proofs may be submitted in the form of certificates, endorsement from the previous Student Council Presidents, Certificates, Write-up etc.

  • Any elected office bearer will vacate his office in the event of incurring a course deficiency, or not performing as per the set benchmark for the various office bearer positions.

    • The complete form shall then be submitted to the DSA Office located in YDC Building , latest by 03:00 pm May 27th, 2025.
