Prof. Dr. Stephen John is currently serving as Dean, Faculty of Education, and Dean, Faculty of Language & Cultural Studies at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Karachi, a public-sector university. He holds a PhD in Education and brings more than four decades of teaching, academic administration, educational leadership, teacher training, and research experience.
Early in his career, he worked with an England-based organization dedicated to promoting education in underdeveloped areas of Pakistan and subsequently served for eight years as principal of a higher secondary school. In recognition of his educational leadership, he received the Best Principal Award from the District Government.
He later served as a teacher trainer with the Pakistan Navy, designing and delivering professional development programs and workshops for naval personnel and faculty members at institutions including Bahria Colleges, Cadet College Petaro, and Sanghar. He was honored with the Best Instructor Award twice by the Pakistan Navy.
Prof. Dr. John joined SMIU as an assistant professor and has since undertaken extensive teaching, research, and academic administrative responsibilities. He received the SMIU Award of Excellence in 2015 and has contributed significantly to the development and strengthening of the Department of Education, including the establishment and expansion of B.Ed. (4-year, 2.5-year, and 1.5-year), MS/MPhil (Education), and PhD (Education) programs, as well as increasing student strength. He has organized numerous teacher-training workshops and national and international research conferences, mobilized funds for academic and research events, and successfully secured research project grants.
An accomplished researcher, Prof. Dr. John has more than 120 publications in journals of national and international repute, with a Google Scholar h-index of 9 and i10-index of 8. His expertise encompasses educational leadership, teacher education and training, curriculum development, educational management, professional development, and contemporary issues in education. His career reflects a sustained commitment to academic excellence, institutional development, educator development, and research advancement.
Ajab Ali Lashari
Lecturer
Ajab Ali Lashari has done his masters in Education and in English Literature from Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Currently he is doing his M.Phil. from same university. He joined SMIU in 2015. He has attended different workshops organized by H.E.C on teaching methods and research methodologies. He has five years teaching experience at Shah Abdul Latif University. He has two research publications in international journals on his credit.
Abdul Karim Suhag, PhD
Lecturer
Dr. Abdul Karim Suhag holds PhD in Educational Leadership and Management from SZABIST University, Karachi. He has joined SMIU in 2016. He has done MS in Education from Sindh Madressatul Islam University Karachi. He has won the Research Peace Award under the title, Best Researcher of the Year in 2019 at Tamil Nadu, India and has also served as an accredited member of World Research Council for the year of 2019-2020. He has published twenty-seven research papers in national and international journals.
