PLOs – MS Linguistics
Upon successful completion of the MS Linguistics Program, graduates will be able to:
PLO 1 – Advanced Linguistic Knowledge
Demonstrate advanced and comprehensive knowledge of major theories, concepts, frameworks, and contemporary developments across core areas of linguistics and applied linguistics.
PLO 2 – Linguistic Analysis
Critically analyze linguistic phenomena using appropriate theoretical concepts, analytical frameworks, and empirical evidence across diverse linguistic contexts.
PLO 3 – Interdisciplinary Understanding
Analyze the relationships between language and cognition, society, culture, identity, ideology, power, education, and other interdisciplinary domains.
PLO 4 – Application of Linguistic Knowledge
Apply appropriate linguistic theories, models, and analytical tools to investigate and address real-world language-related problems in educational, social, cultural, institutional, and professional contexts.
PLO 5 – Critical Evaluation
Critically evaluate competing linguistic theories, analytical approaches, research findings, and contemporary perspectives using scholarly literature, empirical evidence, and sound theoretical reasoning.
PLO 6 – Research Competence
Formulate significant and researchable linguistic problems, objectives, research questions, and hypotheses, and design methodologically rigorous and ethically responsible research studies using appropriate qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method approaches.
PLO 7 – Data Analysis and Interpretation
Collect, analyze, interpret, and critically evaluate linguistic data using appropriate qualitative, quantitative, experimental, corpus-based, or other relevant analytical techniques.
PLO 8 – Independent Scholarly Inquiry
Conduct independent and systematic research that demonstrates originality, methodological rigor, critical thinking, ethical awareness, and a meaningful contribution to knowledge in linguistics or applied linguistics.
PLO 9 – Scholarly Communication
Communicate linguistic knowledge, research findings, arguments, and recommendations effectively through scholarly writing, oral presentations, academic discussions, and other appropriate professional and academic modes.
PLO 10 – Professional and Social Application
Develop evidence-based and contextually appropriate solutions or recommendations for contemporary language-related issues, demonstrating awareness of linguistic diversity, inclusivity, ethics, and the social implications of language.
