Faculty of Social Sciences, SMIU organises a panel discussion on "Localizing Climate Action in Sindh: Challenges and Adaption Strategies
The panel featured Mr. Zahid Farooq (Urban Planner), Dr. Bushra Khan (Professor of Environmental Sciences, University of Karachi), and Mr. Basil Andrews (Researcher), while Ms. Zeenia Shaukat (Development Expert) moderated the session.
The panelists discussed the growing impacts of climate change in Sindh, including environmental degradation, urban vulnerabilities, water scarcity, and extreme weather events. They emphasized the need for localized climate policies, sustainable urban planning, community participation, and evidence-based adaptation strategies to enhance resilience and support sustainable development across the province.
