Panel Discussion on Localizing Climate Action in Sindh Held at SMIU
As part of the 3rd Global Research Congress
The panel featured Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar of Sindh Agriculture University, Dr. Bushra Khan of the University of Peshawar, Ms. Zeenia Shaukat, Director TKF, and Mr. Basil Andrews, journalist and researcher.
The speakers highlighted the severe impacts of climate change on Sindh, including declining agricultural productivity, sea intrusion in the Indus Delta, water scarcity, urban flooding, and extreme weather events. They emphasized the need for stronger implementation of climate policies, climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy adoption, community participation, and localized adaptation strategies to build resilience.
The session concluded with a call for greater public awareness, policy action, and sustainable environmental practices to address the growing climate challenges facing Sindh and Pakistan.
