SMIU Celebrates 149th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah
Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), in collaboration with the Press Information Department (PID) and Pakistan Television (PTV), celebrated the 149th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan and a distinguished alumnus of SMIU.
A cake-cutting ceremony was held at the university, attended by Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, PID Director-General Ms. Iram Tanveer, Mr. Ali Asghar Arbab of PTV Karachi, deans, faculty members, students, and other guests. The event also featured a screening of the PTV play “Jinnah Say Quaid-e-Azam,” depicting the life and struggle of the founder of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai highlighted the historical significance of SMIU and emphasized the need for research on Quaid-e-Azam’s educational life. Ms. Iram Tanveer noted that the Government of Pakistan has declared 2026 as the “Year of Quaid-e-Azam” to commemorate his 150th birth anniversary.
The ceremony concluded with speeches, songs, a documentary on the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum, and the presentation of shields to distinguished guests.
