SMIU Holds Historic 6th Convocation; 376 Students Awarded Degrees
Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) held its 6th Convocation at a local hotel on Thursday, where 376 graduating students from various disciplines were conferred degrees by Governor of Sindh Mr. Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Vice Chancellor SMIU Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai.
During the ceremony, a total of 27 students were distinguished with medals, including 3 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals. The gold medal recipients were Ms. Yusra (Faculty of Management, Business Administration and Commerce), Ms. Sadaf Khalid (Faculty of Social Sciences), and Dr. Abdullah Ayub Khan from the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Abdullah Ayub Khan, who is counted among the world's young scientists, made history as the first PhD scholar produced by SMIU.
The silver medals were awarded to Ms. Mahnoor Fatima (Faculty of Education), Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Ansari (Faculty of Information Technology), Ms. Yusra (Faculty of Management, Business Administration and Commerce), Mr. Aizaz Ahmed (Faculty of Sciences), Ms. Nida Akram (Faculty of Social Sciences), Ms. Hamna Lakhani (Faculty of Language and Culture), Ms. Wardah Manzoor (Faculty of Information Technology), Ms. Aimen (Faculty of Management, Business Administration and Commerce), Ms. Duaa Siddiqui (Faculty of Sciences), and Ms. Sadaf Khalid (Faculty of Social Sciences).
The bronze medal recipients included Ms. Mahnoor Fatima (Bachelor of Education), Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Ansari (BS Artificial Intelligence), Ms. Nazia Bibi (BS Computer Science), Mr. Hanan Ahmed Malik (BS Software Engineering), Ms. Yusra (Bachelor of Business Administration), Mr. Aizaz Ahmed (BS Environmental Sciences), Ms. Nida Akram (BS Media Studies), Ms. Hamna Lakhani (BS English), Ms. Wardah Manzoor (BS Artificial Intelligence), Ms. Isna Karim (BS Computer Science), Ms. Aimen (Bachelor of Business Administration), Ms. Duaa Siddiqui (BS Environmental Sciences), Ms. Amina Akber (BS Development Studies), and Ms. Sadaf Khalid (BS Media and Communication Studies).
Notably, female graduating students outnumbered male students in receiving medals. In a remarkable achievement, two female graduates — Ms. Yusra from the Faculty of Management, Business Administration and Commerce and Ms. Sadaf Khalid from the Faculty of Social Sciences — each received three medals: gold, silver, and bronze.
