SMIU Hosts Session on Career Opportunities for BS English Graduates
The Department of English at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) organized a guest speaker session titled “Career Possibilities Beyond Teaching: Relevance of BS English in the Media Industry” on May 18, 2026. The session was conducted by Buraq Shabbir, a culture and lifestyle reporter associated with BBC Urdu and Arab News Pakistan. Drawing on over a decade of media experience, she highlighted diverse career opportunities for BS English graduates in journalism, digital media, content creation, broadcasting, and communication. Through practical examples and personal experiences, she encouraged students to explore careers beyond teaching. The interactive session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, providing students with valuable guidance on career planning and the evolving media industry.
