SMIU Hosts Sustainovation 2.0, Showcasing Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s (SMIU) Business Incubation Centre (BIC) and Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) organized Sustainovation 2.0, a mega innovation expo that brought together more than 24 universities, business incubation centers, and organizations from across Pakistan. Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai inaugurated the event alongside distinguished academicians and industry representatives. More than 50 innovative projects, shortlisted from over 100 applications, were exhibited, highlighting entrepreneurial solutions to economic, environmental, and social challenges. Participants presented their startup ideas before experts, who appreciated the quality and practical relevance of the projects. Addressing the concluding ceremony, chief guest Nisar Ahmed Khuhro commended SMIU’s growing reputation as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. Dr. Sahrai reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering sustainable innovation through research, commercialization, and industry collaboration. The top three projects received seed funding of PKR 50,000, PKR 30,000, and PKR 20,000, while organizers, mentors, evaluators, and participants were honored with shields and certificates.
