SMIU Media Students Explore Print Media Heritage
The Department of Media & Communication Studies at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) organized an educational visit for its students to the Printing Press Museum, Karachi, on December 24, 2025. Led by lecturer Dr. Nousheen Hussain, the visit aimed to bridge classroom learning with the practical and historical evolution of print media.
Students received a warm welcome from the museum staff and participated in interactive activities. Mr. Faheem Qureshi, founder of Pakistan’s first Printing Press Museum, shared the museum’s history, while renowned scholar Dr. Kaleemullah Lashari highlighted the development of print media. Students explored block and roll printing techniques, viewed historic printing machines, including the Gutenberg Press, and experienced operating an early printing press. The visit concluded with a quiz competition, where the top three students received souvenirs for their outstanding performance.
