SMIU Pays Tribute to Founder Through Launch of Historic Biography

SMIU launched the English translation of the biography of Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi (1830–1895), founder of Sindh Madressatul Islam, during the 141st Foundation Day celebrations held on September 1, 2025.

Originally written in Sindhi by renowned scholar and writer Mirza Qaleech Baig, the historic work was translated into English by Wafa Mansoor Buriro, Assistant Professor at SMIU and noted writer.

The book launching ceremony was attended by Sindh Education Minister and Pro-Chancellor Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Shahnaz Wazir Ali, renowned academician Syed Jaffar Ahmed, former Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Mohammad Mari and former Secretary Education Akbar Laghari.

The speakers appreciated SMIU and Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai for preserving and promoting the legacy of Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi through publication of the translated work. They also praised Wafa Mansoor Buriro for his efforts in translating and presenting the valuable historical biography for a wider readership.
