Vice Chancellors’ Session Highlights Future-Ready Universities at 3rd GRC-2025
Karachi, December 18, 2025: The Vice Chancellors’ Session emerged as one of the most significant segments of the 3rd Global Research Congress (GRC-2025) held at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU). The session, titled “Future-Ready Universities: Leveraging Leadership to Build Globally Competitive and Socially Impactful Higher Education in Pakistan,” took place at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium.
The panel featured Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Vice Chancellor, NED University of Engineering and Technology; Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri, Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh; Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi, Vice Chancellor, Karachi Metropolitan University; and Prof. Edwina Pio, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand.
The distinguished panelists shared insights on the transformative role of artificial intelligence, university leadership, agriculture, entrepreneurship, global rankings, financial sustainability, and collaboration among general, technical, and medical universities. They emphasized the need for higher education institutions to adapt to emerging technologies and prepare students for a rapidly changing global landscape.
The speakers also highlighted how faculty members, researchers, and students can leverage opportunities presented by the AI era to enhance innovation, research excellence, and international competitiveness.
Mr. Wafa Mansoor Buriro, Assistant Professor at SMIU, introduced the session, while Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto, Dean of SMIU and Convener of the 3rd GRC, moderated the discussion. The session was attended by Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Prof. Dr. Misbah Qureshi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh (Thatta Campus), faculty members, officers, and students. At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai presented shields to the distinguished guests.
