Workshop on Filmmaking Held at SMIU

The Department of Media and Communication Studies at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), in collaboration with Sony and Tapmad, organized a one-day workshop titled “Mad for Films” for BS Media Studies students to enhance their filmmaking and digital content creation skills.

The workshop featured sessions on storytelling for OTT platforms, hands-on training with Sony’s professional filmmaking equipment, and a panel discussion on emerging trends and audience preferences in digital media. Independent filmmaker Ms. Zainab Nasir conducted interactive sessions on narrative development and film pitching, while industry experts shared insights into content creation for streaming platforms.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ambreen Fazal, Chairperson of the Department of Media and Communication Studies, and Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto, Dean, emphasized the importance of practical learning and industry engagement in preparing students for the evolving media landscape. The event concluded with student pitch presentations, expert feedback, and certificate distribution to the resource persons.
